Activities of the directorate
- Cultivation of medicinal plants---Cinchona, Ipecac, chirata and Taxusbaccata.
- Expansion of Rubber Plantation and processing to make rubber sheets.
- Cultivation of Mandarin Orange.
- Assessment on Cultivation of new Medicinal Plants in Research and Development Centre of the Directorate.
- Cultivation of essential oil bearing plants and oil extraction.
- Afforestration of unused plantation areas.
- Cultivation of the Horticulture crops like Cardamom, Kiwi, Coffee and Mushroom as Diversification Programme.
- Cultivation of Orchids viz. Cymbidium, Phaleonopsis, Cattleya, Vanda, Mokara, Oncidium and Denrobium.
- Cultivation of Coffee in farmer's field to make the brand "KALIMPONG COFFEE" is cultivated in 1232 farmers field covering 457 acres as Farmers Outreach Programme.
- Cultivation of Cymbidium covering 200 farmers for development of Orchid Industry in GTA.
- Construction of Labout Model House to the Plantation Labourers as per the provision of Plantation Labour Act, 1951.
- Development of Plantation Road and supply of piped drinking water as part of Labour Welfare Scheme.
